Microsoft keeps coming up with good news lately, and their latest CEO seems to be doing things right and getting the public to love Microsoft once again. OneDrive (previously SkyDrive) is the cloud storage platform for synchronizing files everywhere from your PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices.
Microsoft has just announced on their OneDrive’s blog that starting from 23rd June 2014 they have increased their free storage to a huge 15GB. For folks who has subscribe to any version of Office365, they will now get a titanic 1TB of storage. This puts Microsoft OneDrive on par with Google Drive but the big reason why OneDrive is such an attractive option now is simply because of it’s compatibility with Office documents. Google Drive may has it’s own proprietary Google Docs but it’s still a chore to be able to share it directly as a file to other users who doesn’t use Google Docs. As for Dropbox, it’s still one of the best cloud storage platform for most things but the free storage size starts from a limited 2GB.

There are a couple complains we have with Microsoft OneDrive, one of them being the lack of similar sharing features of Dropbox where you can generate links on the fly from PC/Mac and smartphones. You still need to login to OneDrive via your Microsoft account on the web browser to be able to share the folder or file. The other concern is Microsoft keep tracks of files uploaded to OneDrive and files that appears obscene or inappropriate will be rejected. That might be a privacy concern as we do not know how Microsoft screens the contents. All this little kinks aside, OneDrive just might be a very strong contender for the best cloud storage platform now.

Thousands flock to Xiaomi Singapore website trying to get their hands on the latest Redmi Note this lunchtime hour and believe it or not, all 5,000 sets were sold out within seconds. LTA is clamping down hard on motorists who park illegally with 10 new CCTV locations starting from 15 July 2014. This brings the total CCTV monitoring locations to 20 and will further increase to 30 by October 2014. Most of the CCTVs are located around MRT stations where there is a high incidence of illegal parking, impeding the smooth flow of public buses. Popular malls and high concentration of pedestrian activities are also one of the factor in selection of the CCTV locations.
The selected locations will be monitored by the CCTVs on a 24-hour basis. Lamp posts and sign posts painted with vertical strip in bright orange colour indicate the zone is being monitored so you should look out for it as well.
